5 Best Sights in Naramata, Okanagan Wine Country

Elephant Island Orchard Wines

Although many vintners take advantage of the nearby orchards, this funky winery makes a specialty wine out of fruit. Using recipes that are generations old, it creates some delightful table and dessert wines from pears, cherries, and black currants. They also make grape wine and dry ciders.

Lake Breeze Vineyards

On the Naramata Bench above Okanagan Lake, Lake Breeze Vineyards is one of the region's most attractively located small wineries. Their wines are known to be clean, crisp, and fruity. The tasting room and garden patio make for a lovely setting; the outdoor Patio Restaurant is open for lunch (weather permitting) between May and mid-October.

Red Rooster Winery

Sampling wine at Red Rooster is a cultural experience. In addition to showcasing the recent vintages, the bright, spacious tasting room sells the work of local artists as well as dining-oriented lifestyle paraphernalia, and the Pecking Room Patio & Grill is a great place to try wine pairings and the farm-to-table menu. If owning a vineyard is your fantasy, Red Rooster's "Adopt A Row" program could be the next best thing. You "own" a row of 50 vines for the season and are guaranteed a case of wine.

Therapy Vineyards and Inn

With wines that carry such names as Super Ego, Pink Freud, and Freudian Sip, you may feel like running for the analyst's couch. But never fear, this small vineyard combines its whimsical humor with a number of quality wines, especially its Merlot and Pinot Noir varietals. The winery often hosts special weekends focusing on culinary and yoga programs. But with only a handful of rooms (five modern boutique-style suites), most participants reserve early or stay elsewhere.
