Park Essentials

Park Fees and Permits

Admission to the park is free, but if you want to tour Lehman Caves there's a fee ($9–$11, depending on tour length). To fish in Great Basin National Park, those 12 and older need a state fishing license from the Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org). The one-day nonresident license is $18, plus $7 for each additional day at time of purchase ($80 for a year). Backcountry hikers do not need permits, but for your own safety you should fill out a form at the visitor center before setting out.

Park Hours

The park is open 24/7 year-round; May to August, visitor center hours are 8–4:30; hours may vary from year to year. It's in the Pacific time zone.

Cell Phone Reception

There's decent coverage close to Lehman Caves; the more remote you get, the spottier it becomes. Some service is available on higher portions of the Wheeler Peak hike.
