Fodor's Expert Review Inn at Montchanin Village and Spa

This luxurious lodging, also home to Krazy Kat's restaurant, includes 11 painstakingly restored 19th-century cottages that once housed workers from the nearby du Pont powder mills. Each elegant room is decorated with oil paintings and reproductions of antique furniture; some have four-poster or canopy beds covered with Frette linens. All have marble baths; some have kitchenettes and porches with wicker rockers. The great room, where evening hors d'oeuvres are served, has overstuffed chairs, game tables, and a stone hearth that stretches from floor to ceiling. The inn is nestled in a series of peaceful gardens intersected with landscaped walkways.
