Several companies provide transportation between Panama City and Cartí, in Guna Yala, in four-wheel-drive vehicles; you will be picked up at your hotel. It's possible to drive to Cartí in a four-wheel-drive vehicle and leave it there while you visit nearby islands. Ancon Expeditions transports guests to and from its lodge on Punta Patiño with a combination of driving and a boat. When arriving by car to Guna Yala, expect to pay $20 per person at the Nusagandi check point, and a $2 port tax once you are in the Guna Yala Indigenous Preserve; you will need to show a valid passport.
