3 Best Nightlife in York, Yorkshire

Old White Swan

Spreading across five half-timber 16th-century buildings on busy Goodramgate, the Old White Swan is known for its good pub lunches and its ghosts—it claims to have more than the equally venerable Black Swan.

Snickleway Inn

With its wood paneling and open brick fireplaces, the allegedly haunted Snickleway Inn provides a real sense of stepping back into the 15th century (when it was built). Its colorful past includes being used by Royalists during the English Civil War to store ammunition and explosives.

The Black Swan

Located in a half-timber 15th-century building complete with wood paneling, flagstone floors, and mullioned windows (making it atmospherically dark), this pub (there's been one here since the 16th century) serves home-cooked bar food and hosts folk and acoustic music nights. There are three rooms upstairs if you wish to spend the night.
