Lyndhurst

Largely unspoiled and undeveloped, yet accessible even to those not normally given to long walks or bike rides, the New Forest provides numerous opportunities to explore the outdoors. Bike rental and horseback riding are widely available. Numerous trails lead through thickly wooded country, across open heaths, and through the occasional bog. With very few hills, it's fairly easy terrain, and rich with wildlife. You're almost guaranteed to see wild ponies and deer, and occasionally free-roaming cattle and pigs.
