Rajmandir movie theater

Fodor's choice

This historic art deco movie theater is the place to experience Bollywood films and, in doing so, really soak in modern India. Widely visited by Indian and foreign tourists (the films are in Hindi without subtitles, but you get the gist of the action even if you don't understand the language), Rajmandir is still constantly flooded with locals, who sing, cheer, and whistle throughout each film. Shows are usually at 12:30, 3:30, 6:30, and 9:30, but times may vary by 15 to 30 minutes, according to the length of the film. Tickets for popular new releases sell out quickly on weekends, but you can buy them in advance—your hotel reception or concierge should do this for you for a small fee. Expect a short intermission during longer films, and a long line at the restrooms during the break.

Mehrangarh Fort

Throughout the year, this fort hosts festivals and exhibits, such as Sufi music festivals and the Rajasthan International Folk festival in October. Inquire at your hotel or check the fort's website to see if anything is going on while you're here.
