Car Travel

From the Skagit Valley towns of Mount Vernon and Burlington, about 65 miles north of Seattle on Interstate 5, take Highway 20, the North Cascades Highway, east through Sedro-Woolley, Concrete, and Marblemount. From April to November, when Washington Pass is open, continue to Winthrop and Twisp, then use State Route 153 to get to Chelan, and U.S. 97—with a short jaunt on U.S. 2 heading west—to get to Leavenworth and Wenatchee. An hour and a half to the south, U.S. 97 connects with Interstate 90 at Ellensburg, about an hour and 45 minutes from Seattle.

From Seattle, take Interstate 90 to U.S. 97 to Wenatchee and Leavenworth—with a short jaunt on U.S. 2 heading east—to Chelan. From there, State Route 153 takes travelers north to Highway 20 through Twisp and Winthrop, and—from April to November—west over Washington Pass, through Marblemount, Concrete, Sedro-Woolley, and Burlington, where it connects with Interstate 5, Washington’s main north–south artery.
