Getting Here

The White House can be reached by the Red Line's Farragut North stop or the Silver, Blue, and Orange lines' McPherson Square and Farragut West stops. Foggy Bottom has its own Metro stop, also on the Silver, Blue, and Orange lines. A free shuttle runs from the station to the Kennedy Center. Many of the other attractions are a considerable distance from the nearest Metro stop. If you don't relish long walks or if time is limited, check the map to see if you need to make alternate travel arrangements to visit specific sights.

Planning Your Time

Touring the area around the White House could easily take a day or even two. If you enjoy history, you may be most interested in the buildings in the Lafayette Square Historic District, DAR Museum, and State Department. Save the Kennedy Center for the evening. You'll find some notable restaurants here as well, including the West End's Blue Duck Tavern.
