Run by the engaging mother-daughter team of Symbria and Sara Patterson, this organic and biodynamic farm in a fertile valley 6 miles north of Cedar City is a wonderful side trip for visitors of all ages. The farmstand fashioned out of recycled materials stocks seasonal fruits and veggies, plus eggs, cheese, baked goods, and jams. You can also learn about sustainable agriculture on a free farm tour (given twice monthly) and visit with the friendly goats, pig, dairy cow, and llama, and a two-bedroom suite in the farmhouse is available for overnight stays.

Northeast of St. George, this suburban outpost of the legendary family farm and fruit stand in central Utah is a favorite stop for delicious apples, cherries, peaches, pears, and watermelons. Be sure to sample the fresh-pressed apple juice and cider. The ice-cream parlor doles out tasty treats, including shakes and apple-cider slushes.

In a neatly restored pioneer home off Main Street, this handsome gallery specializes in regional art. Its offerings include paintings, sculpture, and photographs, as well as antique and contemporary Navajo rugs discovered by the longtime collectors who own the gallery.

The emphasis at this superb gallery in a circa-1880s pioneer home is on regional art, including pottery, works in glass, jewelry, beguiling copper wind sculptures by Lyman Whitaker, and paintings by more than a dozen artists that capture the dramatic beauty of southern Utah.

Near Red Canyon a little east of U.S. 89, this rambling emporium carries high-quality Native American turquoise jewelry, beadwork, textiles, and other fine crafts, plus a number of souvenirs related to the nearby national parks.

Built in 1917 and remodeled to retain its historic character, this landmark building in downtown Cedar City contains an old-fashioned drug store, complete with a soda fountain from the 1950s. Enjoy ice cream, shakes, sundaes, and malts, or try one of the uniquely flavored sodas. And then pick up a few treats at the candy counter, or browse the adjacent gift shops where you'll find a tempting selection of toys and souvenirs.

This attractive gallery on the east side of town sells contemporary fine art from Southern Utah–based artists that includes paintings, photography, ceramics, and sculpture.

On a busy evening, this giant mercantile bustles with tourists plucking through souvenirs that range from sweatshirts to wind chimes. There are also selections of Western wear, children's toys, holiday gifts, and groceries (albeit with pretty high prices). You'll also find camping equipment. Need a folding stove, sleeping bag, or fishing gear? You will find it at Ruby's. You can also cross Main Street to where this ever-expanding complex has added a line of shops trimmed like an Old West town, complete with candy store and rock shop.

This gallery and shop features watercolors of local scenes by owner Harriet Priska, along with antiques, Native American jewelry and pottery, petrified wood, rocks, and other colorful crafts and gifts.
