Fodor's Expert Review Big Yellow Inn

234 S. 300 W, Utah, 84720, USA Fodor's Choice

Many of the rooms in this stately Georgian Revival inn are more reminiscent of Colonial Williamsburg than the Utah high desert, but they contain the kinds of plush amenities you'll appreciate if celebrating a special occasion or a grand theater weekend—think stone fireplaces, large balconies, and claw-foot tubs or Jacuzzis. It's just a couple of blocks to the theater as well as Southern Utah University campus. The house is surrounded by fragrant gardens, and rates include an extensive full breakfast.

PROS

  • a few minutes' walk to Shakespeare Festival and downtown dining
  • in a pleasant, leafy residential neighborhood
  • elegant, rambling old home

CONS

  • books up in advance during summer festival season
  • frilly, old-fashioned room decor
  • on a slightly busy street
