The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina offers beyond-comfortable suites, a handful of pools (which, with cabanas and a bar, entertain kids and adults alike), and truly stunning views of the Holy City. The cherries on top? The hotel has an indoor movie theater, sumptuous spa, mini-mariners morning camp for kids, and is just 10 minutes from downtown.

Room
Expect coastal décor done right. A beachy palette of sea-salt green, periwinkle blue, light yellow, and gobs of white color the spacious rooms, which feature hardwoods, a wall of windows, private balcony outfitted with Adirondacks, and electric fireplace.
Tip Traveling with the kids? Book a Family Parlor Room, which holds two separate bedrooms, one with a king and another with two twins.
Bathroom
The sizeable spaces are well lit and offer a roomy standup shower dressed in handsome faux marble, a soaking tub, doored-off water closet, double vanities, and hair-and-makeup nook with smartly situated plugs. The stars of the show, though, are the seersucker robes and oyster-shell quartz countertops.
Lobby
Soaring ceilings, custom millwork, and sightlines to the pool give the lobby style in spades. Read your morning paper in an armchair there or on the wraparound back porch that overlooks the pools and harbor.

Here’s where you’ll really get your money’s worth. The 30,000-square-foot palm-lined pool deck holds a huge kid-friendly swimming pool, a smaller cabana-lined option aimed at adults, and an oversized hot tub, all overlooking the harbor. Fire pits, bocce, and a life-size chessboard add to the family fun, while servers keep the adult beverages flowing. Harborside at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina—the sister property next door—has another pool that you’ll have access to, as well as a sandy beach area for volleyball and corn hole.
Spa
Cool coastal colors invite total relaxation in the ground floor’s Estuary Spa, offering an extensive menu of massages, beauty treatments, and Naturopathica products.
Gym
Sorry, but you don’t have an excuse to skip your workout. Your room key will get you into the nothing-special-but-fully-equipped 24/7 gym on the first floor of Harborside, plus there are verdant jogging trails nearby and complimentary bikes rentals.
Dining
A poolside snack bar and room service make grabbing a quick bite easy, but the Fish House restaurant will be your go-to for onsite eating. Though the menus are seafood heavy—to be expected by its moniker—they offer a few delicious salads and turf options, too. Gracious service, modern maritime-themed décor, and a front-row look at the USS Yorktown make for merry mealtimes.

Take in views of the Yorktown and the picturesque Ravenel Bridge from The Fish House’s Bridge Bar, or order a frozé or daiquiri from The Beach Club Tiki Bar.

Getting Around
Park your car in the lot out front. Hop aboard the Charleston Water Taxi ($6 one way), which departs from the marina and docks at Waterfront Park and Aquarium Wharf, or the resort’s complimentary shuttle that’ll transport you to and from downtown throughout the day and early evening. Ride-share during the shuttle’s off hours.
Restaurants
For a romantic supper, head to the Old Village Post House Inn (8-minute drive) in Mount Pleasant’s picturesque Old Village neighborhood. During a trip to Sullivan’s Island, brunch at the upscale The Obstinate Daughter (15-minute drive) or grab a burger in your bathing suit (and cover-up) at the famed Poe’s Tavern (15-minute drive), named after Edgar Allan Poe, who once called the island home.
Bars
Dolphin-watch as you imbibe at Tavern & Table (6-minute drive), the happy-hour favorite on Shem Creek. Across the street at The Shelter Kitchen and Bar (6-minute drive), the party lasts into the wee hours.
