Rooms on the east side of this three-story 1858 Italianate brick town house have direct views of the State House, though Interstate 95 lies between. Most of the bright, simply furnished guest rooms have polished wide-plank pine floors, 11-foot ceilings, and gas fireplaces (some with marble mantles).
PROS
- huge windows in most rooms
- cooked-to-order breakfasts with locally roasted coffee
- free parking and 24-hour complimentary drinks and snacks
CONS
- I–95 may be too close for light sleepers
- steep stairs to third-floor rooms
- not the best neighborhood
