Why We Like It

We love the pet friendly attitude, the noon checkout, and, most importantly, the free wine and cheese happy hour on offer Monday through Saturday. This boutique hotel is a stylish base for exploring one of Downtown's most interesting neighborhoods.

Fodor's Expert Review

The Nolitan combines a hip, slightly gritty feel with some luxe touches--but don’t expect a lot of space to spread out. The inviting rooftop doesn’t have a bar, but you can bring a drink up there on your own and soak in the Manhattan skyline. Probably the greatest part about this boutique hotel are the freebies, including a wine and cheese happy hour, plus bike and skateboard rentals. That’s right--you can rent skateboards.

Room

The rooms have distressed cement ceilings and walls, oak floors, and a spacious desk. Starting at 235 square feet, space is tight but the windows let in a ton of light. So that kind of makes up for it--or at least helps you see better, which is also nice.

Tip North-facing rooms have unobstructed views of the Empire State Building. Ask for a room with a terrace during warm months for those sweet, sweet views.

Bathroom

A water closet is separate from an open bathroom with a rain shower, so that’s nice. They also have Aveda bath products, and a small vanity area. Some rooms have soaking tubs in the living space. They’re all around good bathrooms.

You Should Know Bathrooms lack privacy with a curtain separating the shower from the sleeping area. Hope you’re staying with someone you’re close with.

Lobby

Lined with colorful books and tufted couches, the small lobby of this boutique hotel pretty much feels like a living room, which is nice. It flows right into the ground floor hotel restaurant, Bread.

Dining

Bread is a bright restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows that provides extra common space and great people watching.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel is located on Kenmare Street in Nolita, and the neighborhood’s charming tree-lined blocks surround it. Other Downtown neighborhoods—including the Lower East Side, SoHo, and Chinatown—are all within an easy walk. Subway access includes the 6 train at Spring Street and the J and Z trains at Bowery. Taxis and Uber are both widely available in the area.

Restaurants

The quintessential New York breakfast is, of course, a bagel and coffee, and Nolita happens to have one of the city’s best bagel shops: Black Seed Bagels (1-minute walk). For an unfussy dinner of grilled corn, tacos, and Cuban sandwiches, squeeze into the tiny Café Habana (4-minute walk). Their tacos pair pretty well with the margaritas they also sell. You’re probably going to want to visit one of the pizza places in the neighborhood, so you will want to check out Rubirosa (4-minute walk), which is a cozy restaurant serving classic pies based on a 50-year-old family recipe.

Bars

For creative cocktails, grab a seat at the bar of Mother’s Ruin (2-minute walk) on Spring Street. Brinkley’s (4-minute walk) is a welcoming neighborhood bar serving locally brewed draft beers.
