The Boro Hotel
38-28 27th St., Queens, New York 11101, USAWhy We Like It
Generous space, high ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows are features not commonly found in Manhattan—especially at such an attractive price. So, go to Queens. We love the rooftop lounge, the skyline views from the balcony, and the lobby lounge stocked with books.
Fodor's Expert Review
The boroughs beyond Manhattan beckon for space and views. This industrial-chic property in Queens is no exception, with spacious rooms, balconies with skyline views, and downright huge bathrooms. Catching the sunset behind the Manhattan cityscape—from the rooftop lounge or the privacy of your room—is a real highlight.
You Should Know Long Island City has much more attractive dining and drinking options than it used to, but unfortunately, this property still feels a bit isolated.

Getting Around
Long Island City in the borough of Queens is located across the East River from midtown Manhattan (the hotel overlooks the 59th Street Bridge connecting the boroughs). Subway service to Midtown is fast, with E, M, and R trains nearby at Queens Plaza plus 7, N, and W trains at Queensboro Plaza. The out-of-the-way location means more space for less money, but the location can at times feel isolated. The best of Long Island City (its concentration of restaurants and bars) is about a 20-minute walk away. Uber is available in the area.
Restaurants
A farm-to-table restaurant with an art gallery attached, Crescent Grill (1-minute walk) serves sustainable food in a creative environment. If a craving for meat hits, choose between the wagyu flank steak and a dry aged porterhouse at M. Wells Steakhouse (12-minute walk). A brisket and short rib blend make up the burgers at The Baroness Bar and Kitchen (6-minute walk), an unfussy restaurant with many options for customizing your perfect burger.
