TRAVEL GUIDE

Duluth is Minnesota's gateway to the sea, and Duluth–Superior Harbor is the largest inland freshwater port in the world. Popular attractions include Canal Park, Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, and the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center (The Depot). Outdoors enthusiasts love Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Spirit Mountain Ski Area.

Duluth hugs a 600-foot bluff overlooking Lake Superior and was originally home to Dakota and Ojibway natives. In 1679, a French voyageur named Sieur Daniel Greysolon Duluth claimed the area for King Louis XIV. Settlers established themselves as fur traders, loggers, fishermen, farmers, and miners.
