Fodor's Expert Review Astronaut Ellison S. Onizuka Space Center

Kailua-Kona Family

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

This informative museum, located at the airport, was opened as a tribute to Hawaii's first astronaut, who was killed in the 1986 Challenger disaster. The space center has computer-interactive exhibits. You can launch a miniature rocket and rendezvous with an object in space, feel the effects of gyroscopic stabilization, participate in hands-on science activities, and view educational films. It's a fun and affordable stop for the whole family.
