The Marker Waterfront Resort
200 William Street, Key West, FL 33040, USAWhy We Like It
It’s all about the location when it comes to The Marker. You are right on Key West Bight with awesome views, the most sought-after bars and restaurants are right out the front door, and the rooms are designed with high style in mind.
But alas, with beauty comes a bit of a beast, and that beast is noise seeping into your room from under the door and through the thin walls. If you’re sensitive to sound, get a room overlooking the Serenity Pool. It’s further from everything else but worth the walk, for the rest.
Fodor's Expert Review
The sight of this hotel will get you a little excited with its tin roofs and white-clapboard exteriors. As a newer resort, it is still finding its footing, but the rooms are big, and each has a balcony either overlooking the pool, gardens, or the harbor. The location is fantastic for exploring.
You Should Know There’s a $35 a day resort fee that includes thing like pool access (really?). There is also a $30 a day valet parking fee. If you don’t valet, you can park blocks away.

Room
Very modern, bright and white. Pops of color come from the pillows, carpeting, end-of-bed spread, and bathrobes. There’s a nice flat screen TV, a mini-bar tray of goodies to purchase from lotion to tequila, and a Keurig coffee maker. Little touches add a Key West touch like a small stack of books and other tchotchkes. There’s also a desk and the Wi-Fi is good.
You Should Know You can hear your neighbors, live music from the close-by bars, and every door slamming shut. Bring ear plugs… or a Valium.
Bathroom
Large and contemporary with a glass enclosed rain shower, vessel sink, a separate soaking tub, and full size Key West Aloe bath products (you will love the mango shower gel). The backlit mirror and mounted makeup mirror are a girl’s best friend.
You Should Know No separate area for the toilet, so you have the entire bathroom to yourself with a solid door for privacy.
Lobby
Pull up in the circular brick drive and walk in the double doors. You’ll find several seating areas with comfy furniture, beautiful tray ceilings, all local artwork and sculptures, and a view out the window as you register.
Pool
The courtyard area features two on-the-smaller-side saltwater pools, simplistic loungers, a large covered bar area with TVs, and bright turquoise umbrellas. Poolside service is available. The adult Serenity Pool is on the other side of the property, worth seeking out if you’re over 21.
You Should Know They have a ‘local-friendly’ policy that allows use of the resort to those who come to eat or drink. It makes the pool area crowded and guests angry.
Spa
No onsite spa.
Gym
Not much to see here but you can walk on a treadmill and stare out the windows.
Dining
Cero Bodega is their Cali-Mexi-inspired waterfront restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner--just know that it’s pricey. You can also get small plates and appetizers at the covered poolside bar.
Tip The pizza is a favorite as is the homemade guacamole.
Drinking
The open-air pool bar has covered roof, a full-liquor bar, lots of seating, and offers poolside service. You can also sit and have drinks at their waterfront restaurant, Cero Bodega.
Tip Happy hour is at 4pm daily.

Restaurants
Harpoon Harry’s (2-minute walk) is the best diner in Key West, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for reasonable prices, but they’re CASH ONLY. Lunch specials are always $9.95! Half Shell Raw Bar (2-minute walk) serves great seafood baskets and the best Key West pinks (shrimp). For special occasions, treat yourself to the A&B Lobster House (9-minute walk). It’s pricey but their lobster dishes (like Lobster Thermador and their Lobster Bisque) are amazing.
