Fodor's Expert Review Saybrook Point Resort & Marina
2 Bridge St., Old Saybrook, Connecticut, 06475, USA
Guest rooms at the cushy Saybrook Point Inn are done up in 18th-century style, with reproductions of British furnishings and Impressionist art; many have fireplaces, making them especially cozy on cool evenings. Three saltwater swimming pools overlook the inn's marina and the Connecticut River; a full-service spa offers Swedish-style aromatherapy, sea-clay facials, and a nice range of salon treatments; and the seasonally inspired Fresh Salt restaurant, which overlooks the river, serves cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients.
PROS
- tasteful room decor
- excellent waterfront restaurant (open to the public)
- marina provides a picturesque setting
CONS
- comparatively pricey
- you'll need a car to get to local attractions
- the water view from "water view" rooms varies considerably
