Fodor's Expert Review Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls – Fallsview

5685 Falls Ave., Niagara Falls, Ontario, L2E 6W7, Canada

Since it opened as the Hotel General Brock in 1929, this grande dame of Niagara hotels has hosted royalty, prime ministers, and Hollywood stars—including Marilyn Monroe, who stayed here while filming the potboiler film Niagara. The imposing stone hotel still has some glamorous details—like an enormous chandelier above a sweeping staircase in the lobby. But history also has its disadvantages: standard rooms are small, and only about half have views of the falls. Just around the corner from Clifton Hill, the hotel has indoor access to the Casino Niagara, the Hard Rock Cafe, and an indoor water park. The 10th-floor Rainbow Room restaurant overlooks the falls and serves three meals a day.
