Fodor's Expert Review

Hotel Tres Reyes is a modern oasis of new-world luxury in a town otherwise dominated by the old. The 11-story hotel sits on the border of Pamplona’s historic center and offers towering views of the picturesque city. The location is both close enough to the winding streets of the old town while still being easily accessible by car for both business and leisure travelers. Guests are sure to enjoy the large rooms, seductive lounges, and range of amenities—including a summertime pool.

Room

Even the most basic of the 116 rooms in the hotel are surprisingly spacious, thanks to the fact that Hotel Tres Reyes was originally a five-star property upon first opening. Family rooms make for an attractive option for groups while a variety of suites are on offer for those looking for an upgrade (and balcony). Rooms feature warm wood floors with mod black-and-white décor and gold trimmings to match.

You Should Know Every time you enter the room and activate the power, the TV turns on as well. Be prepared for a startle the first time.

Bathroom

Roomy bathrooms with clean designs of tile and marble have the added bonus of rainforest showerheads and walk-in showers while upgraded rooms also provide baths.

Lobby

The eye-catching atrium lobby is the epitome of modern-luxe. Guests are greeted by supple marble while sleek architectural lines rise above them and chandelier lighting, gilded adornments, and a grand staircase all combine to please the senses. The mezzanine lounge makes for a great relaxation space that guests should be sure to spend some time in.

Pool

In the hotel’s courtyard is a seasonal outdoor pool with plenty of lounge space and a grass area to lie out on around the perimeter that all makes for a pleasant retreat from the summer heat. Guests can enjoy drinks out here and the space even features music on busy nights.

Gym

Hotel Tres Reyes boasts what may be the biggest fitness room we’ve seen in a hotel in the Basque Country. Guests will find plenty of floor space, cardio machines, free weights, and strength machines. Plus, here’s the rare chance to workout on marble floors.

Dining

The Restaurant Tres Reines, an elegant restaurant on the 2nd floor mezzanine of the hotel, blends a well-executed fusion of classic Navarro style with modern creativity, with a focus on grilled meats and vegetables. It’s a more-than-worthy dining option for those not in the mood to venture out into the old town. In the mornings, guests can elect to pay for a diverse breakfast buffet in the same space.

Drinking

A grand staircase from the open lobby leads to the sprawling Tres Reyes bar, a seductive environment with a grand piano, supple leather furniture, and fun zebra-striped chairs scattered amongst the elegant black and gold décor and stained glass windows. The bartenders know how to stir some good drinks here too, with some tasty snacks and salads on offer for those looking for a quick alternative to the restaurant.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel offers valet service for those arriving on wheels. But once here, the best way to explore Pamplona is definitely by foot, and the hotel’s location on the edge of the old town makes for a great jump-off point for strolls through the array of cobblestone streets and charming sights.

TIP: The hotel has a few complimentary rental bikes that are free for guests to use which make a fun alternative mode of transport for sightseeing.

Restaurants

Foodies with some pocket change to spare should make sure to check out Restaurante Europa (8-minute walk), a Michelin-star establishment in the old town that has become an institution in Pamplona. For something that doesn’t require reservations in advance, Asador Katuzarra (7-minute walk), on the always-bustling Saint Nicholas Street, is a delicious option whose chief focus is all about the grill (though the pintxos are also good), not to mention it has a splendid dining room in the back.

Bars

Though the city is not known for its cocktail bars, guests looking for a drink should focus their sights on Saint Nicholas Street, which is the center of nightlife in the old part of town. The stretch that leads towards Plaza del Castillo (8-minute walk) is teeming with bars, and its best to just bounce like the locals do.
