About the Restaurants

Serbia shares culinary traditions with all of the Balkans. Centuries under the Ottomans brought dishes from Mediterranean, especially Greece and Turkey; Austria-Hungarians left their mark as well, especially in the decadent custards and cakes. Cosmopolitan Belgrade, like many urban capitals, has a more experimental and international dining scene. Restaurants in the countryside are more traditional affairs with lots of opportunities to taste regional specialties, like soft buhtle buns from Vojvodina or tulumbe cakes from Kosovo.
