Taxi Travel

Metered taxis are plentiful and extravagantly expensive. If you use one, be sure the meter is switched on when your trip starts, or bargain first.

Taxis operate on a fixed-fee basis from the port and airport to Valletta. Sample fares are (€20) to Marsaxlokk and (€23) to Mdina. Taxi tours can be organized on a per-hour basis; for example, the fare for five hours is about €70. Some taxis have meters, but it is best to ask approximate rates before the ride begins.
