Santa Croce

Santa Croce’s two important churches are San Stae on the Grand Canal and San Giovanni Elemosinario, adjacent to the Rialto Market. The quarter’s most pleasing architectural assemblage is the Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio, one of Venice’s most tranquil squares. Having a spritz or a coffee in the pretty campo is a good alternative to doing the same in one of the packed squares in San Marco or Dorsoduro. Museums in Ca’ Pesaro on the Grand Canal fill out Venice’s offering of modern art and present the only public collection of Asian art in the city.
