Ca' Formenta
Via Garibaldi, Castello 1650, Venice, Veneto, 30122, Italy, Venice, ItalyWhy We Like It
Ca’ Formenta is clean, quiet, and gently priced—and what more do you need when you’re really here to traipse around Venice all day?
Fodor's Expert Review
Though it’s looking a tad dated, Ca’ Formenta offers charming rooms with Venetian-style décor—and the prices are quite reasonable for expensive Venice. This small hotel is right near the lagoon in the Castello neighborhood, so it’s quieter than others, and has easy access to the Arsenale vaporetto to get around.
You Should Know If you want to stay in a place with nightlife and tons of restaurants, you should look at a different neighborhood.

Room
With carpet or terrazzo floors, pale yellow walls, and blue patterned bedspreads and curtains, room décor is simple and old-fashioned, but rooms do include modern conveniences like mini-bars, flat-screen TVs, and air conditioning.
Tip Some rooms do have lagoon views, so look when you book if you want one.
Bathroom
Most of the tiled bathrooms contain small showers (but alas, not rain showers), while some have combo bath/showers.
Lobby
The simple lobby, with pale yellow walls and marble floors, has a number of chairs and tables for guests, plus a small bar. But you’ll probably prefer hanging out in the chairs in front of the hotel for lovely water views and better people-watching.
Dining
There’s no restaurant for lunch or dinner, but an adequate, though complimentary, continental breakfast is served in the breakfast room—really just an extension of the lobby hallway.

Getting Around
It’s easy-peasy to sail around Venice with a ferry from the Arsenale vaporetto stop, just a 3 minute-walk from the hotel. Or if you prefer to walk, the Riva degli Schiavoni promenade heads west, all the way over to St. Mark’s (a 15- to 20-minute walk to Piazza San Marco).
Restaurants
The classic Venetian recipes at Al Covo (5-minute walk) have won over diners for years. A cozy place with ultra-modern and affordable tasting menus paired with unusual wines, CoVino (6-minute walk) makes a great stop for lunch or dinner. Il Ridotto (12-minute walk) is one of the tastiest modern Italian eateries in town, with innovative dishes and a great wine list
