Why We Like It

This little hotel is all class and all style. The staff is remarkably warm and helpful, and the Clef d’Or Concierge can help you get into any restaurant or museum with ease. Rooms are spacious and cozy (mind the AC issue) and the restaurant is oh so savory. If you want to be away from the tourist throngs of the inner-city center, this boutique is a great option with quiet streets, a park just outside, and yet still walking distance to shops, restaurants, nightlife, and attractions.

Fodor's Expert Review

An exclusive member of the Small Luxury Hotels Group, Hotel Regency is a classy boutique inside a 19th Century building and is a work of art inside and out. Operating as a hotel since the 1960s, this quaint and charming luxury property goes out of its way to make guests feel at home and give them the best possible experience in the city. First class service, fine-dining, and Clef d’Or Concierges help this little hotel go a long way.

Tip The hotel is on the north east side of the city center making the walk to major attractions a little further than other city hotels. The good news is that they have bicycles that are first-come-first-serve to get you around the area quickly.

Room

Along with the rest of the hotel, the design reflects the Regency Period with lots of lush reds, sweeping drapes, and classic Florentine touches. King-sized beds are double-wide and many rooms come with views of the park just outside. All rooms are equipped with Handy devices – a helpful gadget that gives you free Wi-Fi all over the city, in addition to bottled water, and Nespresso machines (in the suites).

You Should Know On particularly hot days, you’ll want to use the air conditioning. The good news is that the hotel has plentiful air. The bad news is that in some of the rooms – those Regency drapes cover the vents and prevent the rooms from cooling off. You’ll be forced to decide between blacked out curtains or cooled off room. Real Sophie’s Choice in our opinion.

Bathroom

Bathrooms have marble floors, rain showers, and sinks and all feature bidets, towel warmers, and shaving mirrors. All come with Heeley bath products.

Lobby

The hotel’s style is on stunning display in the lobby area. Hardwood floors, red lounge chairs and couches, and Renaissance art is splayed throughout. Also, notice the stained glass windows that evoke the hotel’s long history.

Dining

No matter your room size, breakfast is always included and on warm days can be taken in the peaceful courtyard in the back of the hotel. The main restaurant Relais Le Jardin is a fine dining spot that uses local ingredients for perfect pastas.

Drinking

The Lounge Bar at the restaurant has everything you could ask for including a great wine selection. In the summer, the hotel has an apperitivo in the courtyard where the chef prepares finger foods to go along with your cocktails.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

While it’s not the closest hotel to the major attractions of the city, everything is still within walking distance. If you hate walking, the hotel has bikes you can use to get around quicker. We still wouldn’t recommend renting a car as parking is expensive and city center rules are confounding and will cost a lot in fines when you make a mistake.

Restaurants

For some classic Tuscan fare in a rustic spot, check out La Giostra (8-minute walk). If you want fine dining in a truly regal setting, head over to the Four Seasons and eat at Il Palagio (3-minute walk).

Bars

The Atrium Bar (3-minute walk) inside the Four Seasons is a chic spot for finely made cocktails. If you want a livelier night, head over to Jazz Club Firenze (7-minute walk) for smooth tunes to wash down your beers with.
