Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Casci
Via Cavour 13, Florence, Tuscany, 50129, Italy
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
In this refurbished 14th-century palace, the home of Giacchino Rossini from 1851 to 1855, the friendly Lombardi family runs a hotel with spotless, functional rooms. Many of them open out onto various terraces (a view doesn't necessarily follow, however) and easily accommodate an extra bed or two; a number of triples and quads are available. It's on a busy thoroughfare, but triple-glazed windows allow for a sound night's sleep.
PROS
- helpful staff
- good option for families
- English-language DVD collection with good selections for kids
CONS
- bit of a college-dorm atmosphere
- small elevator
