The Depot neighborhood was once where the wealthy, mainly Jewish, merchants lived in impressive 19th-century villas. Very close to the port and the city center, this area was just outside the Old City walls. Nowadays, the few remaining villas are mostly owned by foundations, and high-rise apartment blocks dominate the area.
