Mycenae

The ancient citadel of Mycenae, which Homer wrote was "rich in gold and once ruled much of the Mediterranean world," stands on a low hill, wedged between sheer, lofty peaks on the edge of two deep ravines. The gloomy, stony ruins are hauntingly suggestive of what becomes of might and power.
