Plomari

Plomari, the second-largest town on Lesvos, is dramatically set in a cliff face overlooking a wide harbor and Aegean sunsets. This was once a major maritime area but today is a cheerful mix of resorts and quiet fishing village with narrow, cobbled lanes and houses spilling down to the sea. The town is famous throughout Greece for its ouzo, and there's a lively night scene on the harbor, where visitors gather after a long day at the beach. There's a good sand-and-pebble beach at Ayios Isidoros, 2 km (1 mile) east of Plomari. The best beach in the area, Melinta, is located 6 km (4 miles) north of Plomari.
