In the tiny, picturesque courtyard of these lovingly restored former stables is the fig tree, which, thanks to a windfall of fruit one year, inspired the beginnings of the even tinier shop in the corner. The chutneys, mustard, and jams made and sold at the Alte Bäckerei are all made using traditional methods, without preservatives or artificial flavors, from apricots, peaches, quinces, rhubarb, berries, and other fruits from around the region.
