Why We Like It

This is a clean, comfortable, friendly, and well-priced place to lay your head that's close to plenty of attractions. Plus, stunning Eiffel Tower views are unavoidable.

Fodor's Expert Review

Around the corner from picturesque Rue Cler, this friendly, affordable hotel ten minutes from the Eiffel Tower welcomes guests with a Provence-inspired lobby and huge picture windows overlooking a quiet street. Travelers on a budget will enjoy easy access to public transportation, local bistros, and proximity to the district's famous food market.

You Should Know Rue Cler is one of Paris's top market streets, full of gourmet shops, bustling cafés, and fun boutiques. But hotel rules state no food in rooms, so plan a picnic instead.

Room

Country-style wood furnishings, antique prints, and pretty French cotton fabrics decorate each room which create a homey atmosphere that helps offset the rooms' smallness. Some rooms have mini balconies and Eiffel Tower views and the two ground-floor guest rooms open onto a leafy private courtyard.

You Should Know There is no minibar or air-conditioning in the rooms.

Bathroom

Spotless contemporary bathrooms have walk-in showers or a bathtub with shower and all the amenities you'll need.

Lobby

Comfortable seating in the attractive lobby lends itself to people watching on the pedestrian street outside, but it isn't large enough to accommodate a group.

Dining

A simple but ample buffet breakfast delights with fresh patisserie, confiture, and café crème.

Tip On the nearby banks of the Seine, cobbled walks and benches make a nice spot for enjoying a fresh croissant and coffee from a pâtisserie on the Rue Cler.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel is a two-minute walk to metro station École-Militaire. You can also get several bus lines on nearby Avenue Bosquet.

The upscale 7th arrondissement has its own unique character, a mix of elegant limestone residences and stately old mansions that now house the French government, as well as some of Paris's more well-known sites: the Eiffel Tower, Champs de Mars, Invalides and the lovely Musée Rodin and its gardens. Though you're away from the crowds of central Paris, this is a touristed area, but its residential status also assures plenty of affordable cafés and restaurants—especially on lively rue Cler (a must-see in the area)—as well as some fine shopping, especially at Le Bon Marché, a 15-minute walk away.

Restaurants

The Rue Clerc offers enough bistros and cafés for budget meals, and on nearby Rue Saint-Dominique (5-minute walk) revered chef Christian Constant's three restaurants offer something for every budget. Starting with Café Constant (where the chef hangs out) for a gourmet meal on the cheap; Les Cocottes for something slow-cooked and comforting; and Le Violon d'Ingres for an elegant gastronomic dinner for two (reserve).

Bars

This is not a big neighborhood for bars, but at Hôtel Cinq-Codet's chic hidden garden restaurant and cocktail bar a few minutes away, you can enjoy a well-crafted pour any night of the week until midnight. Café Bar Club Tourville (43 Avenue de la Motte-Picquet), just down the street, is a convivial spot if you feel like a nightcap before calling it a day.
