Train

South Western Railway serves the South from London's Waterloo Station. Travel times average 1 hour to Winchester, 1½ hours to Southampton, 2 hours to Bournemouth, and 2¾ hours to Weymouth. The trip to Salisbury takes 1½ hours and that to Portsmouth about 1¾ hours. A yearlong Network Railcard, valid throughout the South and Southeast, entitles you and up to three accompanying adults to one-third off most train fares and up to four accompanying children ages 5–15 to a 60% discount off each child fare. It costs £30. Weekend First tickets, available on weekends and public holidays, let you upgrade to first class from £5–£25, depending on the train operator.
