This Philipsburg adults-only all-inclusive is well positioned even if it doesn't offer the height of luxury: away from the docks that are usually crawling with cruise ships, but only a 10-minute walk from downtown Philipsburg. The day-long activity schedule and no-limit food and bar policy are attractive, but like many properties of the same caliber, renovations continue. Although rooms have been redecorated in a Caribbean style, the common areas are dated and bland. There is a wide choice of rooms, including some with butler service and one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens; all have terraces with fine views on the beachfront side. Rooms on the first floor are essentially underground—get one on an upper floor facing the ocean. Guests have access to Sonesta Maho resort. There is a small casino in the lobby.
