Fodor's Expert Review Coyaba Beach Resort
Grenada
Rooms at Coyaba, one of a handful of hotels with direct access to beautiful Grand Anse Beach, are in pavilion-style buildings that surround a 5½-acre beachfront garden of palm trees, hibiscus, frangipani, and bougainvillea. All rooms have a view of the sea from a private patio or balcony. The island's Amerindian heritage—Coyaba means "heaven" in the Arawak language—influenced the resort's interior design, which includes teak furniture, earth-tone fabrics, and local artwork. But this is not a rustic environment. The accommodations are modern, and the decor is beautifully serene. Four rooms are accessible for guests with disabilities.
PROS
- excellent beachfront location
- pool with swim-up bar
- on-site dive center
CONS
- rooms are attractive but not extraordinary
- "free" water sports have time limits, usually 1 hour per day
- restaurant meals mediocre, better to eat elsewhere
