Abaco Ceramics offers its signature white-clay pottery with a variety of island and sea inspired designs. The Royal fish pattern remains a favorite.

2. Albury's Sail Shop
This shop is popular with boaters, who stock up on duffel bags, briefcases, hats, and purses, all made from duck, a colorful, sturdy canvas fabric traditionally used for sails.

3. Hope Town Canvas
Hope TownBags of all sizes are made by hand out of sails in the upstairs workshop. Some of the sails are new, others are recycled. Sailors consider an old sail from their boat a fair trade for one of the stylish duffel bags, purses, or totes.

4. Abaco Neem
More than 30 different products are made using locally grown neem trees at this shop and production plant. Salves, soaps, and lotions are organic and in many cases claim to offer medicinal benefits against skin conditions, arthritis, and even hypertension. Abaco Neem also produces an entire range of pet products. Call or email in advance to arrange a tour of the production facility and nearby farm. Tours take about one hour and are $25 per person with a two person minimum. Book your tour in advance.

7. Ebb Tide Gift Shoppe
This shop is on the upper-path road in a renovated Loyalist home. Come here for such Bahamian gifts as batik clothes, original driftwood carvings and prints, and nautical jewelry. They even sell the brightly colored Androsia fabric by the yard. Browse through the extensive Bahamian book collection.

8. Iggy Biggy
This store, inside a bright peach-and-turquoise building, is your best bet for hats, sandals, tropical jewelry, sportswear, and souvenirs. If you are looking for gifts to take back home, you should be able to find something cool here.

9. Joe's Studio
This store sells paintings by local artists, books, clothing, and other nautically oriented gifts, but the most interesting souvenirs are the half models of sailing dinghies. These mahogany models, which are cut in half and mounted on boards, are meant to be displayed as wall hangings. Artist Joe Albury, one of the store's owners, also crafts full, 3-D boat models.

11. Plymouth Rock Liquors and Café
This shop sells Cuban cigars and more than 60 kinds of rum. For something completely different, get there early, order one of their famous breakfast sandwiches and brag to your friends that you had breakfast in a liquor store. You can even get the T-shirt to show you've been there, done that.
