Taxi and Songthaew Travel

Taking one of Bangkok's air-conditioned taxis is a good way to access sights, particularly those in Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkram, and Muang Boran. Estimate around B500 per hour, with the final amount dependent upon your bargaining skills. Standard rates for trips outside of Bangkok, implemented by the Ministry of Transport, are displayed in many, though not all, taxis and if available should be used as a starting point for any negotiations.

Outside Bangkok, songthaews (pickups with wooden benches in the truck bed) are often the closest thing to taxis.
