Fodor's Expert Review The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo
2–16–1 Konan, Tokyo, Tokyo-to, 108-8282, Japan
Beautifully blending modernity with traditional Japanese aesthetics, the Strings is one of Shinagawa's top-tier hotels. From the metro station, a private elevator whisks guests up to the hotel atrium, where a glass bridge spans a pond and the lobby artfully mixes dark wood and stone. It's hard to resist the urge to cocoon yourself in the guest rooms, outfitted as they are with high-quality linens, natural wood accents, and astounding views of the Tokyo skyline; it's hard to tear yourself away from the nighttime skyline views, especially from a corner room. Prices in the hotel restaurants tend to be a bit high, but the Shinagawa area has plenty of dining options for a variety of budgets. Access to the Shinkansen "bullet train" and Haneda Airport is a breeze.
