Why We Like It

Quiet and cheap, Hotel Asia Center of Japan is a relatively centrally located hotel that’s walking distance to the fun streets of Akasaka or the wild nightlife of Roppongi. Inside, the hotel doesn’t have much in terms of amenities and the rooms are pretty small, but it’s clean and the service is polite and helpful. For budget-seeking tourists, this is a good option as long as you don’t mind walking.

Fodor's Expert Review

Tucked away on a quiet residential street, Hotel Asia Center of Japan is definitely a misnomer, but it does give its guests an affordable option in an oft-uber expensive city. Beyond it’s modern façade and non-centralized location, inside you won’t find much in terms of style. Instead, you’ll get small but clean rooms, a respectable restaurant, and not a whole lot else.

Room

Basic rooms won’t win any design awards and are definitely on the small side – but you get what you pay for. All rooms come with yukata pajamas, free tea and water, and disposable slippers.

Bathroom

Micro-bathrooms are pretty plain with pint sized shower/tub combos and automated washlet toilets. You might struggle if you’re on the larger side.

Lobby

The small lobby has white marble floors and pillars and off to one side is a business center with internet connected computers that are coin operated and cost 100 Yen per 10 minutes.

Dining

Restaurant Ureshino is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and prides itself on farm-to-table ingredients brought in daily. There’s a variety of western and Japanese options on the menus.

Drinking

At night, the lights are lowered inside Ureshino and out comes the sake and shochu. The lounge atmosphere remains until the restaurant closes at a surprisingly early 9 p.m.

Restaurants

Head over to Tokyo Midtown and check out Tempura Yamanou (10-minute walk) for deep fried food and cold beers. Gyoza lovers might want to try Gyoza IT (10-minute walk), a dumpling spot with great specials.

Bars

You’re not too far from the nightlife in Roppongi, so head south and make your way to Geronimo (12-minute walk), a politically incorrect shot bar that’s on the wild side. If you want to hang out with some Aussies, check out Bar Quest (15-minute walk), a Roppongi Australia-themed bar with lots of beer.
