David InterContinental

12 Kaufman St., Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv, 68012, Israel, Tel Aviv, Israel

Why We Like It

Comfort, style, elegance and all the amenities you could dream of: The David Intercontinental is a huge hotel with enough warm to fill its ample square footage, and despite its broad size, it still manages to provide intimate and personalized service. This is a hotel with true international appeal, and an excellent choice for a discerning traveler who wants to have it all within reach.

Fodor's Expert Review

At the southern end of the beach, this luxurious hotel's suites are often reserved by visiting celebrities—and with the gorgeous views of the sea, it's easy to understand why. Some rooms have a hint of Spanish style, with warm colors and brick-hued fabrics that complement the red-tile roofs of the Neve Tzedek neighborhood below. The atrium lobby has soaring ceilings, marble floors, and a high-end shopping arcade. Breakfast offers a great taste of Israel in one meal. The hotel's restaurant, Aubergine, specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. An extensive menu of Israeli wines from the major wineries is another plus.

Room

Spacious and luxurious with standard design, the rooms offer plenty of thoughtful perks for travelers, including USB ports on both sides of the bed and outlets for a number of international plugs. Done up in shades of brown and beige, the decor sits on the safe side, but since nearly every room has at least a partial sea view, it only takes opening the curtains to let in some color.

Tip Rooms on the executive level floors gain access to the executive lounge, which is one of the best on the beach, featuring round-the-clock drinks and nibbles, as well as refined service and another chance to sit and stare at the beautiful sea.

Bathroom

The bathrooms are extra-spacious, with modern track lighting around the mirror, Dead Sea toiletries from Israeli company -417, and excellent, cushy robes.

Lobby

The hotel's massive lobby is anchored by two chandeliers of stacked and floating brass tubes, and features Israeli artwork behind the check-in counter and along its walls.

You Should Know Despite having pedestrian access from the street, the lobby sits at the third floor, with a second, auxiilary lobby at the hotel's ground floor. If you're lost, just find an elevator!

Pool

The David Intercontinental's massive pool deck offers a separate swim space for little ones (complete with toddler pool toys) and plenty of chairs to lounge and tan.

Spa

The hotel offers a full spa with a wide range of massage and body treatments for both men and women.

Gym

The gym, located on the hotel's lower level, is compact but features all sorts of aerobic and cardio equipment.

Dining

There's no shortage of dining options here: The upscale Aubergine restaurant offers gourmet Kosher fare with refined, white-tablecloth service; the relaxed lobby bar focuses on drinks and light bites, and breakfast and Shabbat dinner are also served in the form of extravagant buffets in the lobby's main dining room.

Drinking

The lobby bar offers all the standard drinks to quench any sort of thirst, and the CHE cigar bar, also on the lobby level, is a fun and smoky hideout for those who love to puff.
