Help for Road trip from SFO to crater lake / Redwood NP

Hi ,
I need help planning a 5 day trip from SFO to redwood np , crater lake , Oregon caves.
how should I plan the road trip ? Is this doable in 5 -6 days ?
We have been to Mendocino, avenue of the giants and Klamath multiple times so We can avoid that part if needed..and spend more time at Redwood/fernwood
1 night near crater lake..
Which route should we take to avoid unnecessary road time ?

Thanks

Welcome to Fodors. You say 'SFO' which is the airport so are your flying in? And please clarify -- is your 5-6 days for a round trip SF (or SFO) > Oregon > Redwoods > and back to SF - OR are your talking one way from SF up to Oregon?? And when is ther trip?

"Which route should we take to avoid unnecessary road time ?"

Not exactly sure what that means -- SF to Crater Lake is roughly a 9 hour drive no matter which route one takes

If you are flying in from somewhere, please consider flying in to PDX. It will be a much easier drive and probably the rental car situation and cost will be better.
